I finally got an egg it was pretty good sized and then the next day I got a small egg and the next I got 2 small eggs and one of them was long and skinny, is this normal at first?

It's perfectly normal. It can take a while before a pullet gets her plumbing sorted out.

When i got my first eggs i took tons of pictures. Congratulations! That is normal. I have an Ameraucana hen, Lucy, who used to lay long, skinny eggs. So long that i couldn't close the egg carton. My Columbian Rocks lay such round eggs that fitting them into the places for the eggs in the carton is another matter. I can hardly close the carton sometimes. What breed of chickens do you have?
