The Jann family made their first ever homemade incubator!!! Got the light bulb going and the sponges in so we can let the temp/humidity get regulated.

Hoping to add some Silkie eggs soon (thanks to a sweet new friend here on BYC). My kids are so excited (but not as excited as me :))

Thanks to this amazing site for all the things we are learning.

Way to go!!!

Well thought I would update on our progress! Tomorrow is Day 16 for the first batch of eggs (the Silkie eggs) -- we have 6 out of the original 12 that have developed and look good for probable hatching next week! We do have a second batch of eggs (larger eggs from a variety of breeds from a dear homeschooling friend who gifted them to me). Those are due to hatch a week later. So...we are now a two incubator family so we have one ready for lock down on Sunday!

The kids are excited but I think I am more excited. Getting our brooders all ready this weekend and chic feed etc ready to go!

Thanks everyone on this amazing forum for all of your wisdom!!!
