Exhausted Chick Peeps Non-Stop, Help!

Can anyone guess from the pic I posted how old she might be? She was shipped Tues. from out of state. 4 days or? Her tiny wings barely show. I read they eat the yolk and could be okay with no food for a few days...

I would say 2-3 *maybe* 4days? Def under a week for sure! If I had to guess one age I would say 3 days? Would love to see what others say. Glad she is doing better..

Are you still using sugar water? I would definitely not use it any more if you are, can increase pasty butt issues, generally not very good for them. Sugar water is really only to be used one day max as a quick boost of energy to increase appetite. Poly-Vi-Sol (water soluble baby vitamins) WITHOUT iron or mashed boiled egg can be used if she's lacking energy or needs an extra boost.

Cute, cute, CUTE little one!

I agree about the sugar water. It also gives them diarrhea, something she doesn't need at this stressful time.
I'm sure she'll calm down in a day or two. I'm sure it was a hard trip for the poor thing.

You're doing a great job!

Thanks for all the input, she's on regular water and will try dry food today, hopefully she'll eat. She's seems alert, awake right now....

I tired putting a marble and some dry food in a shiny, canning lid to encourage eating. The local chicken guy at the store said to try the marble trick. She's pooping so she must be eating. She seems to be peeping, quieter, sleeping. She looks like a toddler compared to the other two, toddling into things, etc. Funny!

My little baby was dead this morning, thanks for everyone's help with her. I was so happy, she was eating out of the feeder at 11 pm, I thought we had made it over the hump...

I'm so sorry! When they start cheeping in such distress usually there is something wrong and sometimes its hard to figure it out... then it's just to late. At-least you tried and thats all you can ask for!

Thanks, and hindsight being what it is- now I would have had them hold her for me til she was eating from the feeder and a few days older. Not sure if I'll get a 3rd. I have to go to the feedstore today anyway, will look. 2 would be fine at this point...
