***UPDATE***
I have just seen the Catalan breed page that has just been added to the BYC chicken breeds chart and it settles the question for good - Victoria is a Catalan pullet! And she is exactly 20 weeks old today (Thursday, the 20th of August)!!!

Thanks to all for your help and kudos for TexGardenGirl's great Catalan breed page!!!

************

Hi! My name is Victoria and I am a very feminine 20 week old pullet. My masters are pretty sure that I am some kind of EE thingy, but they still have doubts because of my rather atypical looks, compared to most EEs they have seen until now. Of course, I haven't started laying eggs yet, so no hint there. My most striking features are my underaverage size compared to the other pullets, my single comb, my pale blue-green ears and my blue gray legs and feet.

Can you help me relieve my existential angst?

Is she a penedesenca or part penny? They have blue legs and white ear. If she lays chocolate eggs then you'll know for sure! I don't recognize the colour though.

The other thing, looks like she has a slight clavell on the comb (horizontal point on the side of the back of the comb) Pennys have those.

Thanks for the appreciation!

She was even more beautiful before, with her gorgeous black tail feathers. But she lost quite a few feathers because our welsummer rooster finds her very attractive...

Very interesting! Do you have any pictures of Catalan hens, I've searched all over Internet and I haven't found any! It does fit the written descriptions though.

Thanks!

Thanks! That first picture is pretty convincing. Still, I'll continue my quest for other Catalana pics. I'm amazed it's so hard to find pictures of them, especially considering that I've read that it's the most popular breed in South America.

Anymore (buff) Catalana pics, anyone?

Thanks! I have also been frustrated trying to find out about Catalanas, that's why I volunteered to do the page. It feels great to know my research helped someone else too! The only reason I knew what mine were is because they came from a hatchery, and even then the 2 chicks looked different enough I wasn't sure they were both the same breed, but now they look almost identical. They started laying around 20-21 weeks so you should be almost there!
How did you get one by accident? They're really hard to find!

Here's another link. The text is in German (lucky for me I can read it!), and the site deals with Penedesencas and Empordanesas as well as Catalanas (apparently Germans like Spanish chickens). On the left-hand menu on the home page, click on Prat for description (in German), and on Bildergalerie3 (right underneath Prat) for lots of pictures - not the best in the world, but lots of them.

If anyone has Storey's Illustrated Guide to Poultry Breeds (great book!) it has a couple pictures. (It also has Penedesenca pics)

ETA: I definitely agree - as best I can tell, she's a Catalana.
