Hello Everyone, we have recently purchased a home that is more rural with space and a chicken coop. My questions are around what do I need to to rehab the existing coop. It definitely housed chickens previously as it has waste, old hay etc. It is pretty dirty in there so I'm wondering what I need to do to get it ready for our own chickens. Someone said to lye the entire structure? I can post some pics a bit later to show the current condition.

Any guidance is appreciated!

I would give the coop a good cleaning and get rid of the old hay before putting a new flock in it!! Good luck can't wait to see pictures!

! Great to have you here! I would say most of the harmful-to-chickens parasites from the former chickens are no longer around but I'd give the house a good mucking out anyway. I acquired a used chicken house once, raked out the debris, got an old straw broom and buckets of warm & soapy bleach water and had at it. Rinsed it out and let it dry. My chickens been using it for years! Good luck to you!
