Exited but clueless first time hatcher! any hatching buddies out there

i got one set of my shipped eggs today and they are resting. hopefully i will get the other 2 dozen tomorrow. i'm so excited i can't stand it. kelly52862 i have a couple of plastic bins ready and waiting. i also have feed, feeders and waterers and heat lamps. i thought the plastic bins would be easy to use and clean. i have seen some fancy brooders on here tho...

Me! I set 3 eggs on the new store bought incubator. Heck, I have no clue yet if they're even fertile, but it's what the ducks laid, so why not give it a shot?!

Fancy usually means hard to clean. Plastic totes work great (depending on the amount of chicks you have) and are EASY to clean.

Welcome and Good Luck! I would say that you got a pretty good incubating set-up to start off with. A lot of people go with the basic(hand turning, still air) and do well. I have done well doing it this way as well; however, the turner and fan make everything so much easier and precise. I think the hardest part now is all the waiting you will have endure while the eggs are incubating.

I just set 48 eggs today in and incubator with egg turner. I hatched eggs last spring without an egg turner. I hope I get a better hatch rate this time. I have a mystery batch of eggs from a friend with a large variety of chickens. I told her to surprise me. If all goes well they will hatch April 5th.

i candled some eggs today and found a heart beat in my duck eggs!! i can see a little pulsung red dot!! i have not seen anything in my chicken eggs yet but they are dark bronze in color so i cant really even see the yolk lol

i will be using a large tote too!! have it already
i was thinking about using puppy pads for lining we have loads as we have pups right now! anyone think they'd work?
