Expandable Modular Portable Run Design (that can be used on slopes) Help

I might consider an electric fence in the future, but there is also no nearby power supply. Eventually we will run a line to the shed, but it's not at the top of our cost priorities.

I think I am basically making a modified chicken tractor.

Hopefully I can knock out this project soon.

Chickens are quickly becoming an expensive hobby.

Electric netting can be powered with a battery.

... She faked being "zapped" in front of us, complete with yelping out, shaking of hand, and crying afterward. It made her words of caution have more meaning for us.
This gave me huge grin...smart woman, your mom.

I researched a little bit on the electric fencing, a bit out of my price range for right now. Perhaps if I expand my flock, and turn half the shed into a coop, I will revisit it...

In the mean time, I don't have quite enough material to fully enclose the bottom. Can I run a 1.5' apron of chicken wire around the exterior, tack it down with landscape stakes and cover with some dirt/grass? should that be enough to discourage a digging fox/raccoon?

Installing an apron around the perimeter should be sufficient but it would need to be of something other than chicken wire. Coons and fox can tear through it. Use welded wire fencing or hardware cloth. I'd probably go for 24" out, too.
