I have 2 stories I want to submit for a writing competition. I don't really expect them to win, since it's my first time competing and its been 20+ years since college, but I'd like to at least try.

Friendly proofreaders have already said the stories are great.
I think they need to be better.

Anyone have time for this?
I'd need it done pretty soon since the deadline for entry is March 31st...

Neither is very long at all.

One is non-fiction, the other is fiction. Both are short stories.

And I'd rather not send both to the same person for critiques, if possible.

I do have Word. Let me finish something up and I'll e-mail you the fiction story.

BTW, it's 3 pages and the non-fiction story isn't much longer.

Thing is, the fiction story wrote so easily that I've started scaring myself, thinking I've read it somewhere before.

I'll help you out, also will let a friend of mine in Canada proof them for you--she writes a monthly column for a magazine plus has several published articles. I no longer write a monthly column but have in the past & have also had a couple of articles published.
PM'd you my email.

I can do one. I am an educational consultant and teach teachers how to teach writing for a living. LOL

Are you looking for editing only or do you want suggestions for revision as well?

That would be great! Both basic editing and revision suggestions welcome.
I'm hoping this will be a jumping-off point for the future, so the more I learn the better.

Can you PM me your e-mail address?
