Last year, I ordered 6 chicks from My Pet chicken- the customer service was excellent, and the chicks arrived on time. One died during shipping, which is to be expected, I suppose, but the rest of the chicks grew up small for their breeds and lay fairly small eggs. Am I at fault for this, or was it just chance that I happened to get smaller chickens, possibly because of the strain they came from? SO, what are your experiences with MPC?

My first chicks will be 4 weeks old on Monday. I ordered 10, customer service was excellent. THey shipped out on a monday pm, and I got them on a Tues am. One passed shortly after delivery, but couldn't be helped:(

They were great in trying to help me save the lost chick. My others are fiesty, happy, and very very friendly as they have been from the start..No health issues or pasty butts so far.

I will definitely order from them again

Any birds that you get from any hatchery are not likely to be top of the line for their breed. The hatcheries breed for quantity, not quality. MPC is no different. In fact, they are not a hatchery per se but a drop shipper for other hatcheries. For most people, its fine, if all they are looking for is a few hens in the backyard as pets and to provide them with breakfast. But if you are looking for birds to show or for 4H, you are better off getting them from a breeder.

I was more concerned with the health of the chickens rather than the exhibition quality, but thanks anyway!

I am buying from them six and there is 99 percent life garentee aka 1 out of every 100 chicks die and if u notifie MPC about your loss they will refund or give u credit

MPC gets their birds from other sources. You cannot reliabley know where the birds are coming from/ is it Hatchery A from Ohio where tenps are 110 right now or is it Hatchery B from say Oregon where temps are only 80 degrees right now-- They themselves do not hatch their own birds-- they call around and see who has say 6 blue silkies and then arrange shipment to you! It is what it is....
It is a personal decision for you to make... I like knowing my birds are coming from the Hatchery they were hatched at, less than 100 miles away, they arrived 26 hours from Hatching safe and sound. Not too worried about nice customer service on the phone just want Birds that arent too stressed and arrive safe.
