Experiences with the Hovabator Incubator?

I agree, I cannot imagine how you would get that many eggs in the Genesis. I have 40 + in mine, and it is pretty full.

Everyone says that the temperature is spot on from the factory. I would check it anyway. It is not hard to adjust if it is off.

Mine was too high and I had some poor hatches until I adjusted it. Now it is fine. It needed to be turned down one notch.

I read in the description in the Cackle Hatchery catalog that it holds up to 70 duck/chicken eggs. Either way, I don't think I'm going to hatch 50 or 70 at a time, lol!

And thank you everyone for your reviews about the incubator!

IggiMom, what did you mean by 'poor hatches'? Not all survived?

I have the 1602. I've had a good hatch rate with my eggs. Around 80%. Most of the issues was my incompetence, and a few power outages..lol. It has been a great bator. I've done probably a dozen or so hatches in it, and they've been great for the most part. It holds 50 good size chicken eggs, 55 guinea eggs, and a million(slight exaggeration) quail eggs, just FYI

With the turner it holds 42. I would recommend it over the LG any day just for all the humidity issues alone with the LG's that I have heard of and seen first hand with my friends LG bator.

I just meant by 'poor hatches' that I just did not get a good hatch rate. Just a few hatching out of the whole batch. And they hatched a couple days early, too, a good indication of high temps. I cannot remember exactly how many days early because it was last year.

After I adjusted the temperature on the Genesis, I got my first almost 100% hatch! I was so thrilled.

I might have lost one or two eggs in that batch, but not many.

Congrats on the great hatch! And thank you to the new people to the thread who gave me their input! I can't wait until I buy mine! I'll be trying to hatch a lot of cross breeds, so I'll have to mark my eggs.

I will be very interested to hear how you do with it.

I did, also, buy a nice thermometer with a probe that you can put into a water wiggler so that I really felt sure of what the actual temp WAS in the Genesis.

And really, it isn't hard to adjust it, and now, having adjusted it, that temp has stayed rock solid.

I have an LG and Genesis 1588 and I think the Genesis is much better. I've hatched twice last fall and the temp was perfect, humidity held well also. I have eggs in my Genesis now, and having slight temp problems, but I'm almost sure its my thermometers. Overall, I love it
