Experiences with the Hovabator Incubator?

But I have read and re-read the temp. adjustment part on the Genesis instruction and I have read people here saying adjusting is a nightmare. Was it simple for you to do? mine is at 99 - 99.4 I was feeling that was too low??? Thoughts? How hard is it if I chose to do it?

I have the HOVABATOR INCUBATOR 2362N & AUTOMATIC EGG TURNER 1611 W/AIR FAN KIT. I had an awful time keeping the temp and humidity regulated. It constantly fluctuated... I even used a second back-up digital temp & humidity gauge. Had to adjust the 'bator at least 4 times each day throughout the entire hatch. I should mention that I am a newbie and this was my first (and probably LAST) hatch...SO stressful!!! And, it was Summer and my house has no insulation. You might have better luck if your internal temps were more consistent.

Also, I have to say that it looked a lot cheaper than it was! Like a bad Jr. High science project! But, their customer service is great. Replaced the egg turner that died during the hatch, no questions asked.

I highly suggest getting a fan, or installing a pc fan. My first 2 hatches were awful. Could've been because I was new, and my temp flucuated alot... I bought a pc fan from a man who fixes computers. I paid $7 (which was a bit pricey here, usually they are $4-$5) and I installed it very easily! My hatches after were better and it held temp 100% better than without the fan. Just my opinion though

Assuming the fan is to even out the heat in the incubator, it looks as though I should get one. If I didn't though, wouldn't it work if I just put the eggs closest to the heat? I'll probably start my first hatch with 12 eggs.

I have a 1602 still air with a turner in it. The only bad hatch I had was when a twister hit our area and we were without power for almost 4 days.

I also am waiting to get enough eggs to start my first hatch, I bought the Hovabator 1602 thermal air. I plan on getting the egg turned that goes along with it when I have the money, is there any other add ons I should get? New thermometer? I am still not sure how I monitor the humidity, is there something I need to get?

And also, I don't plan on getting a fan, but just curious about how its used with this model? Is it put inside or somewhere on the outside?

Thanks!

Yes get a hygrometer from WalMart like 7 dollars I think! This will measure your humidity. I am on my first hatch in the 1602 next hatch I will add a fan..I got it free my sons a computer guy! You add it inside and if you type it in the search bar it wil give you directions on how to add a fan! Good Luck!

I dropped my Little Giant, taking a big chunk out the the corner. I replaced it with a Hovabator Genesis 1588. All I can say is all styrofoam incubators are not equal! The LG took hours of making tiny adjustments to get the temperature right. I plugged in the Genesis, and it is stable at 99.9. I love the big picture window on the Genesis and the wire shelf is vinyl coated so it will be much easier to clean. I did not get the turner, since I am using it primarily for call duck eggs, which I hand turn, and as a hatcher.
