Experiences with town zoning not allowing chickens?

i hope it works...but... did you investsgste why they rezoned in the first place?, i know portland and south portland very well and yes it's the burbs....read your bio before and was just wondering a few thing's.......it said that you spent 2 years traviling on a boat (sounds really great) and that you plan to do it again? where will the chickens go when you travel again?, i'm a mom of 2 kids and i know if i got a animal knowing it was against town zoning and then had to get rid of it in the end because they didn't rezone my kid's would linch me. i live on a horse farm close to a town and every one dump's there once beloved pet's on us.........i have room for 25 chickens, i had a family try to dump 30 chickens on us this week but i called the local church and with in a hour they where on there way to greensburg ( i live 51 miles from there) to a farmer who lost all his chickens in the tornado

Is it okay to have your chicens in the attached garage? Then have a run out the window to the outside? My town has a law "Housing farm animals in accessory structures"
The structure has to be 200 feet from the property line.
I plan on putting my coop in my garage. The zoning folks would need a court order to enter my house!
