Expired soluble powder. How old is to old????

I stocked up on some antibiotics before they took them off the shelf. It seemed like I had just got my chicks ..... i was reading up on what seemed like horror stories to me.... being a newbie. Now I have several different expired meds.

Does anyone have any knowledge about drugs and their expiration dates. Some things I wouldn't dream of using past their date. But I stored all my powders in an airtight storage box in the air conditioned house and away from any sunlight.

A lot depends on how they were stored. Just as with different foods meds are different and each having optimal storage conditions and stability within them.

The preparation also makes a huge difference (i.e. powder versus emulsion). You have to address each med individually.
Typically with a powder your best chances are in airtight lightproof container at steady cool temperature though not necessarily frozen.

Many pills and powders are good long after the expiration dates that are printed on them. If they have been stored properly, away from light and moisture, then they may very well still be good. If there have been color, consistency, or odor changes, then they may be bad and I wouldn't use them.
