I know in the wild when animals dust bath they find some dirt and play in it now for quail in cages what would you use for that just go and get some dirt from the backyard and put it in a shoe box? thankyou

I use a big shoe box, get dry dirt from the yard, sift out big chunks and grass. I then add a good amount of DE, mix and place it in my brooder.

what about chinchilla dust? or maybe reptile calcium powder? i would be intrested in getting the glow calcium powder when the quail dust bathe in it turn out hte lights and watch your birds glow LOL

I use play sand in an aluminum roasting pan for the big pen. When they were in smaller pens (3-5 birds) I used cut-down ice cream buckets. I've also used ashes from our wood stove instead of sand, whatever I have on-hand usually.
