My chicken math is about to have an outbreak... I want some of the lovely breeds I've been seeing and am going to HAVE to order some lovely chicks. I want a good mix, but I want the straight run price so I better order a few extra incase its a lot of roos, right? Now... ideas on how to explain to the hubby that the chicks just showed up and needed a home would be welcome!

I didn't want more than 30 chickens.
I had 16 girls, and 2 boys. I was happy.
I was offered a BCM trio. Okay. They came with 2 Splash EE. Okay.
Chick Days, and I got 6 chicks. I talked myself out of more a few weeks ago, and DH asked (while we were still out) "so how many chicks are you getting today?" I only got 10 more (Yes, only!!). He then asked if I would be interested in an incubator.

I am up to 36 mouths to feed, and 14 eggs in the incubator. So much for my small flock, huh?

At least your hubby is an enabler.

wait a minute. why are you afraid dh may divorce you if you get more chickens? if he is an impediment to getting as many chickens as you want, divorce him. or at least threaten it. he'd probably prefer living with several hens to living with none. if you do divorce him, make sure you get the houses (chicken houses, that is).

Chicken math has already gotten me and I've owned chickens for 3 weeks now and didn't even want any in the first place! Hubby wanted silkies so I finally said ok cause he lets me get almost any animal I want. I said no more then 3 tho so I find a breeder and we come home with 4 st run silkies. I made a huge mistake and ordered the Meyer catalog and it was all over. I talked hubs into ordering 4 girls cause I think 3 of the silkies are Roos he finally gives in and i ordered the chicks for aug 6th. We got 3 polish (golden, silver & buff) and a sultan then when he wasn't looking I added a partridge Cochin. So 3 + 4 = 9 then today I found someone local with a bunch of chicks and I'm trying really hard not to "go look"

i am laughing so hard! im reading these posts to my H n he is telling me were all crazy. i told him2wks ago i wanted chickens n he said k but no mre than 6. i said ummm K. a wk later we r at Rural King n before we know it theres 6 RIR N 6 Quineas in the cart. Three days later im there getting hardware cloth n the ISAs r callinf my name so i talk the sales lady into letting me have just 3. (6 is the min. but she remembered me from Fri.) so now i have 15 chicks!! n instead of a nice small coop we r looking at 8×12 s!! lol oh n when we were at the check out he turns to me n says NO MORE n of course i say k. he nos me n says really Lynn NO MORE HAHAHA!!!! snicker!!
