I'm thinking about giving away 3 Easter Eggers because I have a raccoon invasion and in order to keep them safe, they're pretty much locked up all the time. Even then, the coons are ripping the wire mesh from the coop frame. They used to roam pretty nicely, and to keep them in a small coop feels cruel.

Anyone interested? I'm not really sure if this is what I want to do, but I don't know that I have the stamina to fight all winter.

I'm in the greater Manchester NH area.

P.S., I'm very aware of what it takes to control predators, thank you.

I'd be interested. :)

I had a raccoon attack my coop at 2am, I thought of you.

My dog chased it, my spouse gave it a whack with the arm of a rake (not fatal, not likely to cause real injury) he was trying to get him off the side of the covered run, in it worked the raccoon fell off the side and took a moment to catch his breath before running off. I set a light outside the front door of the coop, and turned on a echo dot (one of those wifi devices connected to Alexa). And set it to read a book all night. My poor hens had to listen to a man's voice reading the complete works of George Orwell all night. (Very depressing fiction, like 1984 and Animal Farm). They will be cranky today...

I hope your raccoon issues are getting better.
