Exterior Nest Box Access Door: On Top or on Backside?

I'm planning on doing both the top and the side because I want to check it from the top to get the eggs but will need to clean it out as well and the side will allow me to clean it out like someone said with the wheelbarrow below. When we put the tin on the roof in that area we plan on putting it out a little farther so it will cover the roof of the nesting box so that should help it to stay dry even better as well. He got the tin from work from a project they did many years ago. They gave the tin to him and a friend so that was a big blessing! It sure has came in handy! Thank you all for sharing your ideas!!!

I couldn't make up my mind whether to have it hinge open from the top or the front, so I designed it to open both ways. The top access will make collecting eggs easier while being able to access the boxes from the front will simplify periodic cleaning.

VERY NICE!!!! I think I am going to use those dollar store plastic dish pans inside mine to help with the clean up. Those things would be much easier cleaned than the wood I think. :) So glad I just noticed what you used for hinges! I have two of those on hand and had forgotten all about them! Thanx for posting this and helping jog my memory!
