Initially wanted to share this super size egg my new partridge Orpington has laid today, but also wanted to ask if the baldness she has around her vent is due to molting, as her feathers around her tail look like she has been molting but i have never seen any of my chickens have a vent that looks like that. She arrived like this and I didn’t notice it until I got back home, so didn’t get a chance to ask the previous owner.

I’ve attached pictures of the egg, and also what her current feathers/vent are looking like, just curious if anyone knows if this is normal?
Thanks

Feather lose in front of the tail is generally from mating. Feather lose on the vent area can be from feather picking. What conditions was she kept in where you got her from?

The chickens didn’t have a lot of space where they came from, but they weren’t being abused/living in terrible conditions.
I think it was due to bird flu they had all their chickens in these tiny covered pens.
There was multiple pens and the one this chicken came from didn’t appear to have a rooster in it, but there was a rooster in a crate out the front (looked like it was waiting to be collected, it was a white Orpington rooster), perhaps the tail feathers is due to mating and the crowded pen caused her to pluck her vent feathers.
I picked up her and 2 others, none of them like humans, and they seem overwhelmed by all the space they have now.
