Update on extra light in the morning. OK, My little flock is fine, however they are showing signs of avian pox. Their appetites are good and I'm continuing feeding them extra protein. The pullets were laying regularly with 3 - 4 eggs per day. However, two days in a row they only produced 2 / day. I was concerned a little, but then I noticed that the LED light I use in their coop in the morning was getting a little dimmer. I changed the batteries and was gifted with 3 fresh, warm eggs this morning. One of my hens lays around 9:15 to 9:45 every day so she should raise the tally to the usual four eggs. I feel better since the drop off in egg production was likely related to the lack of extra light and not their avian pox. (why can't we call it chicken pox???). This indicates to me that they are going to be all right and make a full recovery.
