My month old chick had the same issue, extreme curved beak with a bump under.
The vet discovered that her tongue was deformed. Instead of growing straight, it grew into a round spiral, like a tendril. Since the lower beak was so small, there was no room for the tongue. He found this by examining the bump. He felt around the mass and her tongue popped out of it. Poor gal. She did her best but wouldn't have survived.
