Extreme Wry Neck!

Sarahh how old was your chick or was it an adult?
She is still young- 3 months old. She had a problem feathering out so she has likely had a deficiency since she was a chick. If you look up this issue, chicks have a pretty good prognosis, just need to get those vitamins to them fast and make sure they are eating a drinking. I think the lack of probiotics will be less of an issue as long as your chick isn't on medicated feed. But it definitely couldn't hurt to make sure it has some good probiotics to help it out along with electrolytes. Be prepared to baby it for at least a week, but I've read of some chicks recovering in as little as 24 hrs.

it is on medicated I am currently trying to get non we only have one vehicle so i try to order on line.
I feel you. I had been getting feed from tractor supply but my local one here sucks and cancels my orders most of the time for lack of product in their store- I am almost certain their feed was old and was lacking nutrition. The small feed stores around here are closed because of Covid. I am currently switching over to Kalmbach feed, I ordered on chewy.com and am waiting for the new food. Hard times. :/ Hope your chicky gets better!!

I had one hatch out about a month ago with wry neck!
brought him inside with a heating pad, got some poultry nutri-drench mixed and fed him with a dropper and in a weeks time he was back out with momma!
it’s been 3 weeks and he barely shows any sign of wry neck!!

Yeah I've read nutridrench was good! I didn't have any on hand but if you can get it locally I'd totally suggest that. Glad your baby is doing well!!

I've just ordered the gel and some non medicated feed from chewy.com I really hope it pulls thru this shipment of faverolle eggs and the remarks from the seller has been an ordeal for me. 1st time to purchase eggs, 1st time with faverolle's and I am really attached to this chick. It had splay leg mildly that got fixed then it was always smaller then it's sibling another boy who's perfect. 1st baby to hatch had severe curled toes that I noticed after 2 hours after hatch i made shoes for it wouldn't keep them on. I started it on vitamin b complex that was an ordeal it never did drink or eat on it's own, i figured it was because of shoes so I hand fed didn't work it died on day 5. I've heard that this breed has more nutrients problems than most. I just want it to make it we were so happy when it made it to a week old then 2 weeks eating and drinking personality coming in, then at 2 days shy of 3 weeks this. Sorry to vent

That is heart breaking, I'm so sorry. :( Vent all you need. I have read that a lot of faverolles die in the egg as it is because of genetics. :( I hope it makes it!!!

can you share the smoothie recipe? I just cannot get it to eat eggs. it was eating well before his head starting hanging.

Smoothie: Spinach, water, honey (or sugar will do not too much though...maybe 4 tea spoons for a whole litre at most...is what I am doing) this is all you need and then feed it with your dropper (just as much as it will take). if you do it right you can get the chicks to think their beak is in water and they will open their beak and u put it in their mouth easier but becarful you dont drown them! they can inhale the water by mistake

Paste: chick crumb (or whatever you feed them), splash of water, 25mcg selenium, 500IU vit E mix into a nice paste. and hold on a BIG lump of it on a spoon. (so it can see it and get it, our little one is loving the paste!)
