HELP! Found my silkie with her neck turned down and back so I brought her inside and gave her selenium and rooster booster and she was fine eating chicken mash. Then this morning she took a turn for the worse and keeps spasming awful while crying and flipping over unless wrapped in a towel roll, I’ve given 3cc of selenium and syringe fed three eggs through out the day as well as rooster booster in the water as she’s unable to eat or drink now, she looks 100x worse like she’s given up and about to die! What else should I do to try and save her?! ANY HELP Appreciated!

I’m pretty sure that’s what’s in the rooster booster as it has all the vitamins and also selenium in it and it’s not working as she’s only gotten so much worse

It may not be enough rooster booster in a dose. The advice I've seen here is to use a human vitamin E and part of a B complex.

Any chance she is injured and having a neurological problem due to an injury?

I wouldn’t think so but it’s always possible from an injury, do you by any chance know how much E and B to give?

I usually give a full capsule of E. Pretty sure you can't over dose on B, because it's water soluble, and any not used is excreted. Don't forget selenium.

3cc of Selenium? How many MICROgrams (mcg) is that? Too much Selenium can be toxic. The daily dose of Selenium for an adult bird is 25mcg.

Go to Walmart, CVS, etc. Get a bottle of Vitamin E (400IU) and B-Complex.
Give her 1 Vitamin E gel and 1/4 tablet B-Complex daily. A treat of Egg will have sufficient selenium.

Rooster Booster - which one? Poultry Cell, RB Vitamins/Electrolytes or? Neither have a therapeutic dose of 400IU unless you really overdose.

Photos of her?
How old is she?

Not real sure of age as I only got her a few weeks ago but still very young not laying yet, found her like that and within a day it got severe, everything I’ve read said rooster booster and selenium and now I’m scared I’ve killed her… should’ve asked for advice here first

:hugsNo, you haven't killed her.

Just stop giving all the excess Selenium.

She needs Vitamin E and B-Complex. Egg is fine to give for the Selenium. Her feed should already have some in it too.

Sometimes, depending on the Cause of Wry Neck, a bird may still not make it even if you offer supportive care.

Silkies are quite prone to this symptom called Wry Neck - some common causes are Marek's (which Silkies seem to be prone to as well), head/neck trauma (again Silkies are prone to this too - they have a hole in their skull), sometimes nutritional/vitamin deficiency and there's other diseases/conditions too.

Stress of moving to a new home can bring about symptoms too.

Do the best you can. Give her the egg to eat or slurry of chick starter or all flock feed. Keep her hydrated and get the vitamins into her. If you wish, you can give the Vitamin E twice a day for a couple of days just to help jump start it.
