I am definitely no expert on this subject, but here are pictures of my chick that looks similar to yours. Her baby picture looks like your chick, then she had a lavendar type coloring (I was thrilled), and now seems to be turning gray (bummer - she's still pretty though).

Looking at my pictures side by side, there's a big difference in coloring, but I did not edit them, except to crop them. Maybe yours will stay blue - the baby chick looks a little darker than mine. I'm hoping you got your splash pullet!

Cetawin and Arizona, those are beautiful girls! Well, guess I just have a different splash than I've seen previously. Just needed to know so I could know what chicks someone might expect from her...for instance, since black over splash gives all blue chicks, it would be different than a black over a blue, which would give all blacks and blues and no splashes.

What I'm hoping is that the medium blue chick is a pullet and this one, too, since I have to sell a pullet from this group. The regular splash chick, I believe, is a cockerel.

I also agree with splash. A good portion of my splash chicks have the same coloration. As adults they retain some of the pale bluish color but have darker splashes on them. A few only have a spot or two of darker color.

I also thought they looked lavender. However, now that I have true lavender orpingtons, these chicks have a much paler coloration than lavender. I will see if I can get some close up pictures of one of the splash chicks next to a lavender chicks so everyone can see the difference.

I agree! I have a few of those in my coop too!

Me three!

I have one right now that had no splash and was very very pale as a chick. Now she is the prettiest shade of light blue. She looks lavender in color but each feather is outlined by a slightly darker shade of blue and her head and neck are just a little darker than the rest of her. Makes me want to hunt a picture and post! And guess what! She is from a Tuffoldhen egg I hatched out early this spring.
