extremely loud australorp

Several of my birds make that noise.  Here are the various reasons I have been able to determine:
1.  The egg song
2.  GET THE HELL OFF THE NEST ALREADY!!!  (while waiting to get in the nest)
3.  HEY, where did everybody go?  When one gets separated and is calling out to find the others.

Specifically, my Australorp is my noisiest chicken in general.  She makes this long dragged out sound like rrraaaaaaarrrrrr rah rah rah rah...and repeat.  It's kind of loud and constant too!  By far my noisiest bird.  I hope not all Astralorps are like this because I have 8 more 12 week olds.  They aren't too bad yet though.

My 2 BA's make that same noise.... Lol. They are loud sometimes but I can't hear them in house..... My Wellie on the other hand is my half Roo half Hen.... She is soooo Loud!! My BA that is laying decided she needed to lay the other day, my BR was occupying the nesting box though. The commotion was unbelievable!! Lol. We thought 1 was dying.... She ended up sitting on top of Maude, my BR.... Now she beats Maude to the nesting box every morning!! Little devil..

many hens watch the flock like a roo if one is not present..do you have a roo?? ..kinda like the leader....yes any of my 5 breeds make noise when there is somthing amiss..and then the roo comes running to see whats up.. and chickens are just like poeple we all have our personalities...and animals are no different as its not the breed its the chicken...jeff

I know what you mean by loud chickens, although I haven't had any Australorps for about 5 years now I remember ours weren't all the noisy, my barnyard frizzle and silkies on the other hand.....

The barnyard frizzle screams murder ( randomly and at nothing) which causes a commotion where the rest of the flock would run over to see what was wrong, they soon got sick of it and now the rooster just ambles over and squarks at her to keep quiet lol.

My Silkies Darla and Goldie are the chatter boxes, they talk all day long about everything, especialy when they are happy, see me, see food etc. I like to think that they just want to talk, to be in the know, they come up to me when I go outside squarking hoping that I have something for them, Darla watches me collect the eggs and comments on each one, comments when I refill the water bowls. I like to think that its a caring and appreciative motion like how are you? we are good, I liked breakfast, I laid you an egg, did you bring more food....

Idk if your Australorp is singing, chatty or if somethings amiss, but id just keep an eye one it, like I said some hens are just very talkative
