It's also not a lie if she's pulling your leg. Just a joke.
Aren't you glad you had BYC to ask that question?

Cabbits are not possible.

Imp- but I live in Redhens world

I have seen what your Aunt is talking about, a Cabbit is what I have always heard them called. It was an orange color, looked like a kitten (because it was) but it mostly hopped with its back legs. The rest of the litter was normal. I can't imagine this actually had something to do with a rabbit. But it was different.

She was pulling your leg....
It wasn't a lie persay... just having some fun with you...
I suppose it is possible someone joked about this with her and she never realized the truth.
Say... Have you heard about the dropbears? Hoopsnakes? Or what about those critters you can only catch when the moon is full, with a grain sack, underneath a willow tree......
Don't worry... your not the first one whos elders once chose to pick on them

Eh, I dunno ... my sister, an intelligent woman, firmly believes that "civet cats" (spotted skunks, a very small species of skunk) are a cross between cats and skunks. It is flat-out impossible for skunks and cats to breed and produce offspring, but that doesn't her from believing it.

People also want to believe in wolf dogs and bobcat/cat mixes; those are also impossible. Dogs and wolves are different species, so are cats and bobcats. But look in the classified ads and you will find people selling them.

Umm, Canis lupus sp. can interbreed with Canis lupus familiaris. The breed of dog I have now (Kelpies) was developed using herding dogs crossed with Canis lupus dingo , the Austrailian Dingo. It can be done, it is being done and I disagree with people keeping wolf/dog hybrids as pets, although at one time I had two of them. I have learned alot over the years.
