EXTREMELY odd question.

I am so rolling my eyes. I have a rather dramatic co-worker that SWEARS she had cabbits. It is genetically and physically impossible. *sigh*

Rabbits will hump anything they THINK can get the job done. Job isn't done with a cat.

I dunno...the rabbit looked pretty content afterward.

People also want to believe in wolf dogs and bobcat/cat mixes; those are also impossible. Dogs and wolves are different species, so are cats and bobcats. But look in the classified ads and you will find people selling them.

I know wolf dogs are entirely possible. Absolutely and I'd love to have one someday. As are coydogs. Much of the canis genus can hybridize. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Canid_hybrid It just doesn't happen that often because wild canis are more likely to kill and eat domestic canis than mate with them. Most also have specific mating seasons where the domestic dogs heat cycle would have to overlap and often doesn't. I'm not sure about bobcat mixes (I'm not sure anyone is 100% sure) but domestic cats are quite frequently crossed with various wild cats to make breeds like my favorite the bengal. It is not at all unheard of for our domestic pets to cross with wild versions in the same genus. It's just difficult to get them to and the results are often unpredictable making them unsuitable pets for most owners.

That is entirely different from crossing something as different as a rabbit and a cat. A cat is:
Class: Mammalia
Order: Carnivora
Family: Felidae
Genus: Felis
Species: F. catus

A rabbit is:
Class: Mammalia
Order: Lagomorpha
Family: Leporidae

Aside from being mammals they have nothing in common and the genetics are extremely different. They aren't even both carnivores. There is no way you could combine the 2 digestive tracts and nutritional requirements. A cat x rabbit is as likely as a cow x human. Probably less likely.

There is a genetic defect in cats which causes the hind legs to look more like a rabbit's. I can't for the life of me remember what's its called though, but I know I've seen a video. If I remember correctly, it caused a fusion of certain bones and the kitten had to hop instead of walk.

Also, manx cats look very much like they have rabbit behinds. It's very probably that the person who told your aunt just didn't know and your aunt just believed her! Chances are, she's not lying to you at all.
