Hey, y'all! My hen really needs some help and prayers right now!

She is a 3-year-old Production Red hen. She has not had much appetite and has been slow for a couple of weeks. I have given her antibiotics, but nothing seemed to work. This morning, the tables turned for the worst. She does not have much balance at all, she has a kind of squat positon, she does not have an appetite, and does not want to drink water on her own. Have any of y'all gone through this with your chickens before? Please help me. She is not doing well. Yesterday she was slow, but still going.

Yes, I’ve gone through this. I’m in a similar situation now. I’ll pray for her, but I’m just bracing you so you know ahead of time, she’s most likely living her last day or two. Love her and hug her while you can. If you can post pics that would help but if not I understand. Have you ever lost a hen before?

What do you think is wrong with her? Is there any way I can treat her?

Yes, I have lost chickens before to predators and unknown reasons.

Is there a new disease or something going around? My sister has a chicken that is going through something similar.

At three years old it could be many things. How do her droppings look? Greenish could be from not eating, pictures are welcome. Check her crop, is it empty, full, hard, doughy, soft and squishy, etc? Check it again first thing in the morning before she has access to food or water and see how it feels then also. It should be empty then. How is her weight, can you feel her breast bone/keel bone, is it very prominent and boney or is it well muscled? Feel her abdomen below the vent and between the legs, does her abdomen feel bloated at all, either water balloon like or very firm? Do you know when she last laid? Any sneezing, coughing, wheezing, facial swelling, discharge from the eyes, nares or beak?
Lots of questions I know, but the more information we have, the more able we are to try to help.

Her poop has a greenish tint to it. Is that anything bad?

Is three years old for a chicken?

Yes, I can feel her breast bone and her crop has maybe a teaspoon of food in it.

No discharge from her face. Her abdomen does feel a little bloated and semi-firm.

I do not know when she last laid, but it has probably been a while.

Her poop has a green tint to it and is not really solid.

Thank you so much for helping!
