Extremely thirsty, explosive watery poops, bruised comb

Just looked at your profile page. We are neighbors since I’m in Los Gatos (unincorporated, in the mountains). How about this storm? I had to close one “shutter” in the chicken coop because two of them had water droplets all over their backs!

That's the PLUS when profile has their location, I try to tag whomever is in the same time zone.

Thanks for all the responses! I finally got up early enough to check her crop, and it just felt like feathers and bone. Later on in the day her crop felt firm but not really lumpy or hard.

She is still active and eating and drinking a lot. Bad news, it looks like two other birds started doing the same watery poops. These two laid eggs today and yesterday.

Hi Sarah,
I've been following but didn't post as you have the best people on it anyway. Just because of timezones it could be quiet now for a while so thought I'd give my 2c.
I don't know why her comb looks as it does unless it's just peck wounds healing. But considering her poop and indeed her appetite I would definitely go ahead with the safeguard. I would do the 5 day dose to make sure it gets any internal parasites. Dosage depends on what Safeguard you have, paste/liquid. If you can tell us which one you have we can advise on dosage.

Do you have photos of the poop?

I have equine paste Safeguard. Should I give it to everybody even the healthy ones?

It has been about 6 weeks and she is still the same. Sneezing a lot, bruised comb, always thirsty, watery poops.

I wormed them all with Wazine, waited 10 days, then gave them Safeguard for 5 days in a row.Now they have Rooster Booster with Lacto in the water. Nothign seems to work.
I am surprised she is active even though she has been pooping water and undigested food for such a long time.

Give her a small amount of white rice with buttermilk for a few days and her normal layer feed only. Nothing else. See if that clears up the watery poops.

Re-Check that crop again for several mornings to make sure it's empty.
The sneezing - check her nostrils to make sure they are free of debris and not clogged up. While you are doing that look inside the beak for any mucous, canker, lesions.

It would be a very good idea collect some stool samples and take them to your vet or send them to UC Davis for testing.
