If you swat at them they'll purposely drop some legs and then the legs keep moving to distract you while they make their escape. They apparently grow back later.

Exactly! Don't learn the hard way like I did.
I generally scoop insects up and take them outside, but this guy had taken up residence in my bathtub overflow. I never saw him until I was taking a bath and then invariably he wanted to come out and take a stroll around the rim of the tub. One day I got fed up with his antics and swat... legs...

I'd have jumped out of the tub like someone threw a toaster in it and skated across the floor nekkid like Bambi on ice.

Love spiders. Handle them regularly to put them out. Can't do house centipedes.

Centipedes bite. Don't pick one up if you can help it. I've never been bitten by one though. I'm not a fan!

I like both. But centipede would likely remain where he was and spider would likely end up as a pet

I meant against each other. Wolf spider is top predator in this house. Never seen a house centipede till this thread.

There was a six inch long one in my basement once. My sister smacked it with a flip flop and it broke in half and the halves both like squirmed around
