We have a pretty little Amerucana cross pullet that has nearly died on us twice. She's about 6mo old now and when I checked her yesterday afternoon, she was lying on the floor of the coop, unable to stand (again) but this time, her left eye is now swollen shut and it looks as though an infection is starting. I did warm water packs yesterday and last night to try and open it up, but nothing happening yet. She's eating and drinking fine and this morning I saw her preening. But her eye is still shut and there's a little greenish lump under it now. My local vet doesn't take care of chickens and I've called everyone around - the nearest vet that will take her is an hour and a half away. I'll go if I have to, but does anyone have any ideas on what to do here at home? Something from TSC or Orscheln or even a homemade remedy (essential oils, whatever)? I'd love to help her!! TIA!

Her poop today is sort of a yellow and very runny. The standing, I think is due to her closed eye... it's like she was tilting - she's better today with it - standing to eat and drink. She does lay but didn't yesterday.... I will check again today. She eats 16% layer crumbles, meal worms, scratch grain and fresh greens. I will try and get a photo of her eye to upload!
