Eye infection

She should be just fine with you so willing to give her the supportive care she needs. Also, it sounds like she has the positive temperament of a survivor. She should adjust quickly and soon no one will even think about her having just one operational eye.

I would really try to squeeze out as much pus from around the eye that I could, or the antibiotics will not help. Here are some really graphic videos on how to express the pus. The second one has pus that is more difficult to get out, probably because it was there longer, and the vet uses a tool:

So IV just cleared her eye and what a massive difference! I'll keep on top of this over the weekend and hopefully we get this sorted. I have also found her eyeball which hasn't been seen since last weekend and the swelling has gone down alot so I'm guessing that a good sign. Can't thanks you guys enough for all your advice

I would keep trying to get more out. It is not an easy job, and frequently can take a few sessions over a couple of days. I have fortunately never had to do this, but without get all of the caseous material (pus) out of the eye, the infection will linger. You have done a lot of good already.

Hi Taralea. Hope your little chicken is doing a lot better now. Just so you know and definitely worth trying, I ALWAYS use Golden Eye drops or ointment. It's safe for chickens, horses, dogs and so on. You can buy it from any chemist over the counter. I use it on all my animals. It's for humans but is absolutely great for any animal eye problems. I used it last week on my cockerel, Harry, who had been attacked and we thought he had lost both eyes. Thankfully they are both still there and the Golden Eye drops helped brilliantly. I'm in the UK too so I know you can get it anywhere. Good luck with your little one - who is really cute too :)

Hey hornbeam thanks for that I'll try get hold of some golden eye! The guys above have been spot on with all the medication, everything they have suggested the vet has given me.
IV only had Chickens about a year and all has been fine untill now so I'm learning all these tricks.
I'm feeling positive about our trip to the vets on Tuesday, the eye has changed dramatically with everyone's advuce, it's not been a glamorous job. She even got a trip outside today into some grass and she has never looked happier.
IV attached today's photo and as you will see things are looking alot better!
