okay quick post otherwise i am going to be late for work.

the chicken has some sort of eye infection which has shut both eyes. i gently flushed both thinking that it might have some dirt, ect. One eye looks like it is starting to cataract. there was one chick that i thought was a lil droopy last night but i brushed it off. any ideas would help.

type: Golden sebright
eye pus.
crop empty
lethargic. walking as if drunk.
first noticed at 7 this morning.

i fed it a lil food before i leave and quarantined it by itself. any ideas would be most helpful. hope the lil chick can hold out till 4 when i get off. sorry for such a quick post hopefully i can respond during lunch.

Pictures would be helpful.

Others will suggest tetracycline ointment in her eyes. I haven't used it, but others have had great success with it. I use an ointment for animal eyes that is essentially neosporin. Probably formulated to be less thick and more gentle, but the same ingredients as neosporin. I've also heard an optometrist say that you can use neosporin in eyes.

Try to get her to eat, being hungry is going to make her feel worse.

Is she sneezing or coughing at all?

thank you for responding. from the hour that i was with the chick she didnt sneeze or anything. just kept her eyes shut. heavy breathing. will try to get some pics. I dont have neosporin but will triple antibiotic ointment work. its like neosporin.

only one more hour to go till i can check the chick

Triple antibiotic is exactly the same as Neosporin, just the generic form of it, so it will work fine.

Here's hoping the heavy breathing is just the heat!
