Eye infections

I have two chicks with eye problems out of all that were born. They are almost 4 weeks old. One was born with an obvious eye problem. I’ve tried flushing it that doesn’t help. The other chick may have always had eye problem I just didn’t notice because it’s hardly noticeable. They both seem to keep that one eye closed. They have no other symptoms at all. Very playful, talkative, friendly, eat well, sleep good, drink well and are growing well. I don’t know what to give them. Is there an antibiotic that would help? Is this something long term? Can it heal?

I would try washing the eyes with saline. Terramycin antibiotic ointment (ask a clerk for it) from your feed store is good to use in the eye twice a day. The first picture is hard to see well because it is blurry, but it looks like a birth defect.

Yes, it may be a birth defect or something pushing the eye down. I haven’t seen that in a chick before. Maybe others have.
