Hi, My name is Melodie and I am totally new to this so please excuse any mistakes on my part. I have two about 6 week old Sizzles that have eye infections. One keeps both eyes closed most of the time and the other only one. Neither look like they feel very good. I offer them grubs and they won't take them. There are three others in the peeper keeper with them that are fine. I have given them vitimens in their water. Any ideas or should I take them to the vet?

Sorry your chickies don't feel well. Can you post any pictures of them? I would separate them from the others for now. Some respiratory illnesses start off with gunky swollen eyes. If you listen to their chest, check for any wheezing. If so you may need to start them on an antibiotic. Other times chickens can peck at each others eyes, irritating them or some other irritant may be the cause....

chickenzoo is right on the button!

One thing you can do until you can post pictures or answer chickenzoo's questions is to wash their eyes out with contact lens saline solution and gently wipe with a soaked cotton ball. It will help sooth the eyes and has germ killing properties. Use a clean cottonball for each chicken.

Thank you both so much! I will post pics tomorrow. For the most part they are just holding thier eyes closed and seem like they hurt, there is no pecking or ouze. I have gone so insane over my beautiful pets that I totally stress if any thing looks wrong. I have a total of 20 peeps to teens of Sizzles, Frizzles and silkies and love them too much!

I just checked out your sites, I already adore you! I am not alone in my craziness! I will be buying so cool things from you.Thank you for making me feel more normal!
