Hello!
I’m hoping someone maybe able to offer some advice as to what might be going on with one of our ducks eyes?
We re-homed her about 2 months ago and didn’t notice anything obvious with her eye until a few days ago. I’ve started to clean with salt water and treat with a colloidal silver eye treatment but not actually sure what it is I’m possibly dealing with. It looks slightly red but also cloudy. No discharge that I’ve seen so far. It’s only her one eye like this at the moment
We’re based in the U.K. so availability to treatments isn’t as nearly as good as further afield.
Any help would be very much appreciated 🦆

She has available clean water deep enough to dunk her head into ?
Terramycin is an antibiotic eye ointment marketed for dogs I buy it on Amazon or at the Feed store . perhaps in the UK there is another dog antibiotic eye ointment with a different name?

I had a duck with one blind eye she went blind after an eye injury that popped her eye and it bled, but then healed enough to stay in and just be blind in that one eye and she did OK with one eye.

Thanks for your response.

Yes they have plenty of clean water sources which they can fully dunk in (and do regularly!!!).

I’ve found a conjunctivitis treatment that can be bought over the counter for humans which I think might be the only similar option available.

Yeah, so in your picture it does look kind of cloudy so it’s possible she is blind. I’m trying to find the old pictures I took of my Ducks eye when she went through her injury and then the different stages. The eyeball went through before it just stayed sort of a grayish white. If I can find them, I’ll post them.

So did the rest of her life I continued to just give her colloidal silver drops in her eye to keep it from getting dry and hurting . I’m just sharing these pictures to help Get an idea of what the eye looks like when it is blind

Hi,
Yes they have various sources of clean water.
I think I’ve found an alternate eye ointment for human conjunctivitis that can be bought over the counter so will try to get some of that tomorrow 🤞🏻

Thanks!
She seems to be fine in herself, which is one of the reasons we possibly missed it sooner 😔
Having kept a really close eye on her since having spotted it, it’s really not hindering her at all. I think ahe currently must have some sight in it so I’m hoping that we may be able to keep it that way.
