Eye injury or resp infection?

She was fine yesterday. Anything I google points to Coryza infection. But I notice the difference that my chickens head and face is swollen around the eye, rather than discharge and there are no other symptoms so far she is active and eating and laid egg earlier and has no breathing issues. Like her forehead and head above her eye is protruding, and all the pics of coryza I see there’s no swelling above the eyes it just looks like an eye infection whereas in person it looks like my chicken got a bee sting or punched in the eye and there’s no smell.

We had A fox attack a few days ago that injured a few birds and one chicken must have got hit in the head as she escaped as her face was swollen above the eye similar to this, but she had no issue with her eyes and the swelling came down a bit since. That’s maybe why I think this could also be a trauma injury, did she get hit with something or scratched on her eye?

Or did my other chicken who got attacked just also have coryza and I have an infection in my flock? Does this look like coryza or an injury? All other birds are fine and no one in flock shoes and respiratory issues. If it is coryza what’s the best steps next? We have her quarantined away from any other birds right now. If it’s an injury how should I diagnose it. We looked for splinters and such but it looks more like blunt force happened to her face.

Hmm. I'm not sure about coryza as I have never experienced it in our flock. I did have a hen who had a swollen eye for a bit but it went down after like day or two. Maybe rinse it with saline solution? Hoping she heals!

It matters little whether you diagnose this as a simple eye infection or corysa, you will treat it the same. Flush daily with saline and use an eye antibiotic in the eye twice a day. Terramycin is a good one.

I would treat as posted above, flushing the eye and applying ointment in the eye.
Looks like the eye may have been injured.
Is there any cuts or lesions inside the beak? Have you looked for more scabs or bruising around her ear and top of head?

There’s no visible injuries other than those little cuts and scraps around the eye. That’s why we’re leaning more toward something hit her eye rather than infection. So far we’ve used saline drops and vetericyn ophthalmic gel and have her quarantined in case. Will look at terramycin in case it’s a bacterial infection. But she has her appetite and no lethargy

We have treated her so far with saline drops and vetericyn orthopedic gel. The cuts and scrapes around her eye are why we think this swelling could be from a trauma. There’s no other noticeable bruising or injury but there’s also no other symptoms of respiratory issues and no other bird in our flock has any symptoms.

We also long ago had a chicken that had a swollen eye for a day or two and then it went down on its own but it didn’t catch our eye as this girls did just now and we didn’t do anything but maybe saline flush for the girl back in the day
