hi i’m just wondering what gender the first one is? i was told these were all pullets. when i got them as babies the adults ripped off all her? neck skin and now it’s grown back beautifully, but looks different, poka dots, than the others.
they’re supposed to be sapphire gems.
compared to the sisters in the last pic.

thanks !!

In all but the last picture, is that the same chicken? It looks like a barred rock to me, but your last picture of the 2 look like sapphire gems.

Maybe someone who knows more than I do can help more.

Aren't Sapphire gems sexlinked? Males are barred and females are solid blue. If they are Saphire gems, the 1st chick is a male.
what does sex linked mean? bc my black ones are black sexlinks and i never knew what it meant i thought it was a breed
and i don’t even know what barred is! and the females are just gray

Sapphire gems are sex linked with cockerels being barred.. what you're calling polka dots. So that one is a cockerel, presuming the "breed" is accurate.

ETA: what is their age?
about 3 months? i stupidly didn’t put it on my calendar. thought i could trust tractor supply.
explains why when i put them together as babies the adult basically held that one down and beheaded it. i saved its
poor life. zero skin around the neck. only ligaments. i thought maybe that’s why it was growing the way it was, in just happy he miraculously made a FULL recovery and can’t even tell that it ever happened !
