I have two pullets under a week old. My Australorp just started aggressively pecking my RIR in the eyes enough so they bleed. Not sure what to do. They were introduced yesterday and all was well. I am holding the injured one and my other is terribly lonely chirping away. How do I prevent this? I have a dozen more ready to hatch at any moment, but I'm worried about placing them in the same brooding box.

Quote: Change to a red light in the brooder so they can't see the red blood. Depending on the age of the bird, get it some chicken "blinders" which fit on it's face like sunglasses. Remove the offender so it is by itself.
Best,
Karen
