I have a 9 week old with an eye that looks like this today. She can open it but is mostly keeping it shut. She is lethargic and has her tail down. Any suggestions?

I gave her electrolytes. She is not off by herself, but she is not well.

No nasal discharge
No swelling on face
Other eye looks fine
Everyone's poop looks fine

I rinsed her eye with saline solution. I don't have another place to move her. She started to get upset as well as her flock mates when I took her away from everyone else. It's tough to separate chickens that have been raised together. Makes me sad to think about losing one of them.

Her diet is the same as it.has been for the last 3 weeks- access to crumbles, grass, and water.

The solution didn't seem to help or hurt. Her eye is definitely sensitive.

I'm pretty nervous because this is my 1st issue other than pasty butt.

She's been my biggest girl from the get go and is aptly named Bertha. She is so sweet. I want to do all I can to help her feel better.

There wasn't much response to this thread, but i wanted to update it since many of the emergency threads don't give updates.

My chick seemed perfectly normal today. Active with both eyes open so hopefully it was just an off day.

I do think if you're getting chicks for the first time, you need items on hand to treat bacterial infections, worms, etc. This weekend I will be stocking up in an effort to be better prepared for unexpected health issues.
