Hi all! I have a baby chick that is about 1 week old. I received him from a clean hatchery but he arrived with a weepy eye. His eye hasn’t gotten worse but is still weeping. There is no purulent drainage, it just appears to be wet around his eye area. His eye opens but not quite as well as the other. I’m looking for suggestions on how to treat or if maybe I should just leave it alone. The chick appears to be eating, drinking, and thriving. TIA for your input!!

It may have been pecked or gotten debris in it. I would flush it with sterile saline or eye wash (veterycin makes one) and apply either plain neosporin or terramycin eye ointment (most tractor supply stores carry it) to that eye a couple of times a day, see if it clears up.
