This Cochin rooster got in a fight with another one (escaped his pen) and that resulted in his eye getting inquired and now I think infected? There is no pus, but it has a smell. This happened 4 days ago and he hasn’t open his eye. I’ve cleaned out with vetricyn eye wash and have put termycian in. However he is now not eating or drinking as much. (He use to be all about the food, and is now barely touching it.) please advice. I’ve dealt with something similar but he never quit eating….

Sorry to hear about your rooster. He looks like a handsome little guy. Sounds like you’ve been treating pretty reasonably.

How is his other eye? Can he see to get to food and drink?

Can you open his injured one and be sure nothing is lodged in it anywhere, no debris or anything? Give it a really good once over and thorough rinse. I suspect he will not like it. Can you see any lacerations in the eye itself? If it’s stuck shut, a warm compress may help soothe it and get him to open it up.
