Eyeless chick

You might be able to get it to eat by wetting the chick crumble into a warm wet mash, the warmth and moisture will increase the smell of the food and may help attract her to it.

If it was my chick I would not try to keep it alive probably, and would cull. Chickens are so sight-dependent, especially for social involvement, I don't know how much of a life quality it could have being blind. It would never be able to be part of a flock I think because it has no way to monitor the pecking order, it would always be abused by other chickens because they are repelled by weakness in the group and tend to attack it/drive it out.

And I think a chicken who could never truly be part of a flock would be miserable, at least unless a human person became its flock and was with it from the time it got up until the time it went to sleep. Most people (unless they are SAHMs or something) don't have the kind of schedule that allows for that amount of bonding time.

You might be surprised that the chick may do just fine by using it's other senses. I think observe it with two buddies, and maybe by hearing and touch, it may learn where the food and water is, and by placing the chick where they are often.

I hoping that it will bond with me and the chick buddy I decide to give it. I wont ever put it in with a huge flock because ya itll get pecked on. If its condition worsens and it dosent look good for it then yes I will cull. Theres just been soooooo many account of them surviving and living a good life. If you look up mumble the chicken her story is really inspiring

She actually died but I think it was my fault. I was leaning in to gather eggs hardley at all accidently squished her against my knee and I heard a little pop. It was only slightly against my knee so she was real fragile. I think her neck and stuff was more sensitive then a normal chicks more fragile so to say. And I think I broke her neck. I think that if I hadent accidently done that she may have survived she was quite strong. I feel bad but I know she can see now.

I'm so sorry! It's never fun when you know you accidentally killed them...:hugs I accidentally unclipped a roll of wire that fell on my two sweetest chicks... None died, but one broke it's leg, which by the grace of God I was able to fix.
