I have quail that are two weeks old and this one chick is developmentally much slower, it's 1/4 the size of the others. The chick is finally as big as the others when they hatched. Cutest thing but when he/she sleeps, it's eyelids glue together, and of course the poor chick panics when he wakes up until both eyelids eventually open.

Is this uncommon? The chick eats like a maniac for feed, but won't touch anything else. Drinks fine. But needs heat constantly when all the others dont.vocal little bugger, chirps when it's happy, frustrated, lonely, cold, and when it sleeps, a light chirp.

I had a chicken chick with this problem some years ago. We use a wet Q-tip and wiped her eyelids to clean and unstick them daily and after about a week or two the problem resolved itself and she was fine.

Oh that's good to hear! Yes, I've been wetting them as well. Thank you for your response, I appreciate it.
