Henri came back out with eggs in her wings and was rolling some too.

Eerie set the eggs just outside camp. She smashed one of Henry’s eggs ruthlessly with a rock, spilling the golden yolk on the ground.
Soon, she saw the gnarled pink nose of the huge rat poke out of an abandoned burrow.

Henri followed her and watched from a distance. She jumped back when she saw the nose come out of the burrow.

She turned and looked at Henri. “They weren’t fertile, right? The eggs?”

Raven went and got Sage, who happened to be his aunt, by the way, and she agreed to help him scare the rat away, as she has formidable spurs.

Henri jumped up to the same branch as Eerie. "No way!" She laughed.

“Good.” Said Eerie. “I had assumed not, given the fact that you’re sacrificing them. Actually, by the way, it’s not good to keep a nest full of empty eggs in camp. It’ll attract snakes and rats, and the eggs can go bad. I recommend routinely depositing infertile eggs in the woods.” She said kindly but informatively.
