EYP Peritonitis questions-rather urgent

Chickens wont drink water with baytril in thats probley why shes not getting better, its the most bitter tasting thing you have ever tasted, my vet gave me liquid form. I have draw up 0.4mls in a syringe and draw up some orange juice to discard the taste because they can just sick it strait back up it that fowl (excuse the pun lol) you could try putting something else in water with it ie, ribena, orange juice.. Hope this helps...

Sorry i didnt read your last post properly so disregard my post.. Im so sorry for your loss i totaly know what your going through.. I tell myself they will be in chicken heaven and thanking us for trying xxxxxx

I'm sorry, Christina. You did all you could. This condition is chronic, really, if you get down to it, incurable over the long haul. I've lost so many precious hens to it, one after the other, almost every one a hatchery hen. The breeder types seem made of stronger genetic material, thank goodness.

I'm so sorry, Christina. You gave her a good life with lots of love and compassion. It's amazing how much personality these little creatures have once you get to know and love them. You did everything you could and more for her.

most of us know that it's tough to lose any animal. Myself I can't justify a large vet bill for a laying hen because in the end they are livestock. But that doesn't mean that I won't take care of a sick chicken. Part of that care is arming myself with information and the necessary equipment to nurse a bird back to health. Unfortunately along with that comes the responsibility to be able to pull the plug and put one of my birds out of its misery. Of all of the aspects of raising chickens that is the hardest.
