sorry about my mumbling! I just don't appreciate the unpredictability of EEs as it is and F1s of EEs can be even more so! but that's just me.
Oh. This thread is only for F1 Easter Eggers because they will be have a 100% chance of having 1 copy of the blue egg gene.sorry about my mumbling! I just don't appreciate the unpredictability of EEs as it is and F1s of EEs can be even more so! but that's just me.
The only way to predict 100% chance of F1s having the blue egg gene is to used established breeds like Ameraucanas, Araucanas, Legbars and Isbars. due to the nature of EEs(breeding on hatcheries), one can't say for sure that they will be Homozygous for the blue eggshell mutation (O/O) or even if they will have one(seen EEs that lay brown/pinkish eggs)Oh. This thread is only for chickens who have a Legbar, Ameraucana, or Araucana as one of the parents. This thread is for F1 Easter Eggers only! Please no hatchery or regular Easter Eggers. An F1 Easter Egger is the result of crossing an Araucana, Ameraucana, or Legbar cock or hen with any other breed of chicken.
Sorry I did not see the OP(as not to include EEs from hatcheries) Interestingly enough, Original Easter Eggers were imported to the USA from Chile before the establishment of any of the listed blue egger breeds. This thread is only for chickens who have a Legbar, Ameraucana, or Araucana as one of the parents.
And that is why some hatcheries still market their Easter Eggers as Araucanas.Sorry I did not see the OP(as not to include EEs from hatcheries) Interestingly enough, Original Easter Eggers were imported to the USA from Chile before the establishment of any of the listed blue egger breeds.
I believe the Araucana breed was created after the import of feral/landrace Colloncas to the USA, some of these Colloncas were the base of the EE.And that is why some hatcheries still market their Easter Eggers as Araucanas.
It was formally established into a breed after being imported to the US, but the Araucana Indians were keeping birds that were rumpless, had tufts, & laid blue eggs for years prior to the importation.I believe the Araucana breed was created after the import of feral/landrace Colloncas to the USA, some of these Colloncas were the base of the EE.
