I have four 7.5 week old chicks that a broody has hatched and raised. Two of them are F1 OE with black copper marans roo and snowy easter egger mom. The other two, same BCM dad but the mom is F1 OE from snowy easter egger mom with silver cuckoo marans roo. So the 3/4 marans two have cuckoo patterns, and they have very different combs from the F1 two who seem clearly to be hens. I just can't make a call on the 3/4 marans. I'm attaching some (not great) photos. The group shot is just to show that while the 3/4 cuckoo pattern two were larger initially, at this point they are pretty close to same size. I really want the white cuckoo to be a hen. I fear it's two of each. Any guesses?

I’ve been referring to the two black chicks as girls, the dark cuckoo as crock pot, and the white one as “maybe”. Something about it’s demeanor is saying hen. The two cuckoo chicks definitely have a different comb style to the other two. This cross can express a lot of comb variety, so the comb isn’t a total deal breaker. And it’s tail set says possibly hen compared to the dark one. Probably magical thinking though :)
