I might be creating a facebook account today... Anyone know if there is a certain age you have to be to join? (minimum age)

Cause one time my parents said you had to be 18... And now my parents are saying 13.. Just wanted to know for sure.

I think it is 13, although I know LOTS of kids that are not 13 and have FB accounts. They are monitored closely by their parents.

I think its 13, but that doesn't stop younger kids from lying about their age.

my older kids set up a FB account for my 9 year old daughter.

I monitor it very regularly. No new 'friends' without our approval.

I signed up for my Facebook account when I was 12.

I made out I was a year older than I was.

When I got older I didn't like to see the site declaring my age wrongly though, so I closed that one and made a new account. I felt like I was cheating somehow.

My husbands nieces are 6 and 12 and have had accounts for 2 years. I am sure the parents have access to the accounts.
