Failing at Quails

If you're concerned about the temperatures fluctuating and getting too high, I would HIGHLY recommend a relatively cheap thermostat, like an Inkbird -- you plug one end into your heat lamp, and securely fasten the temperature probe under the lamp. If it gets too hot (you set the range you want), the lamp will kick off until it hits the lower limit you set, and then kick back on.

I have to reiterate that it's very important you secure the probe -- if it gets knocked out of place or falls out somehow, you can easily go right back to the overheating situation.

Amazon link to the one I use: (there are other models that can have different daytime/nighttime temps, and also ones with cooling options if you have a fan to hook up, etc. https://www.amazon.ca/Inkbird-Tempe...jbGlja1JlZGlyZWN0JmRvTm90TG9nQ2xpY2s9dHJ1ZQ==

Very good quality; I've used them for many years for reliable temps. You can also double-check your temps with an inexpensive temp gun, etc, if you want to be sure.

So I just wanted to give an update...my hatch this time around we got 13!!! All are doing very well and getting so big. Even my little one with wry neck is doing amazing. I blended the bag of food got sav-A-chic Electrolyte which I put in a separate dish every morning in addition to their regular water. They are starting to get feathers too!! They are by my work desk and every morning when they hear me they peep away and some even hop right into my hand. I got meal worms too which they seem to absolutely love because they disappear quite quickly!!! Thank-you too everyone for their advice!! 😁😁😁 I had gone and purchased some Quail due to my failed attempts and just this am an egg from the adult Quails I had purchased hatched too. I currently have 14 little babies after my struggles.
