Hi everyone,
I have a 3 y.o. Leghorn that has become lethargic in the last 10 days; standing hunched up, tail droopy, poop stuck on her bottom feathers, not eating, thin. I brought her in, saw a worm in her dropping, wormed her w/ Wazine last Mon.. In reading about this wormer, I understand it does not get all worms, so wormed her Tues. w/ Safeguard (Fenbendazole).
Since then she just has not rebounded as I expected. I put her back outside w/ the others, she wanders, picks at food but not a great amount. She will nibble at scrambled eggs, mash w/ honey, boiled egg yolk, but again, not a lot. Her crop never feels full. Should I be force feeding her at this point?
Her poop varies from formed to watery, is greenish & white in color. I saw a louse on her & dusted her immediately, have not seen more. The only other thing I noticed is that the tips of her comb in 2 small spots have darkened to a blueish color. No discharge from eyes or nose, no raspy breathing.
I've been dosing her w/ Pyrogenium 30C for infection. The only animal antibiotics I have on hand are Tetracycline & Sulmet (a sulphur drug, I forget the real name). I do have some other antibiotics, but for humans.
Thank you for any help!
Aimée
